This week was a very busy week. I had a lot of homework and tests combined with hitting, band work, working out, and track it was busy. The 15 minutes of band work didn't take up much time and I'm really starting to feel the benefits of it. My arm feels stronger and more flexible.
The stretching I decided to do was a different variation than last week. This week I did shoulder Circles, elbow bends, Pronating throws with the band, and shoulder tilts. These other forms of band work work on the shoulder and elbow joints. It is really a two in one benefit because while I'm getting stronger using the bands I am also becoming more flexible. I enjoy doing the band work because I know how much it will help me next spring. I do need some help from y'all with what I should do about my presentation. Should I make a slide show, Prezi, Google slides, or an Imovie? I would really appreciate it if y'all could give some advice or ideas. I willing to do anything I feel like I can make this project look really cool. Also, this will be my last blog post so thank y'all for reading all of my blogs and leaving the awesome comments, I hope y'all enjoy the presentation and good luck with your own projects.

ing This week was actually a lot more fun than expected. I have decided to incorporate 15 minutes of band work to my program to finish it off so my arm will be in better shape next season. The 15 minutes takes hardly any time out of my day but it is definetly helpful to my project in the long run.
The stretching that I incorporated with the bands included pulls, side pulls, throwing motions with the band, and circles. Each exercise does different things for my arm but they are all beneficial for conditioning the throwing joints and muscles in my arm. After throwing so much throughout the year, band work is crucial to the recovery of my arm because I need to build up the muscles I broke down throwing throughout the year and get them stronger and in better shape for next year. Although I'm getting stronger, the bands also help loosen my arm which will help enormously next season in preventing injury. Between homework and working out and the band stretching it was still a busy week but I felt like I had much more time to do extra school work or just relax because of cutting out throwing for the second week. I'm going to continue my band stretching next week to finish off the project and honestly after the project is over I will continue with the band stretching to keep strengthening my arm. Thanks for reading guys, see y'all next week! ing I can't lie to all of y'all, this week has not been fun. Although, I know it's good for me to rest my arm to let the muscles and tendons recover, I miss throwing. I was really starting to see gains in my velocity and then to have to shut it down in the later part of my program was very tough. Although, the workouts weren't always fun everyday and it did get old I loved seeing the results so I kept pushing, but that is over now.
Throughout my project I saw a lot of improvement in my velocity from the program. My baseline velocity measured in Week 2 was 84 mph. My last velocity test last week before I had to shut it down was 87 mph. That is a 3 mph jump in around a 7 week program while juggling track, hitting, working out, and other things. I worked hard while taking one day off a week to let my arm recover so with a lower back injury limiting my progress for honestly around 2 weeks, which let me still do the workouts but be limited on max effort throws. One other benefit I found in my project is that my arm is a lot more loose and flexible. The stretching has loosened my arm, allowing me to do more to prevent injury and throw harder without any pain. I do have one question I would appreciate being answered in the comments. Do y'all have any cool ideas you want me to do for my presentation? I would be willing to do almost anything to show what I've learned and my progress. Make sure to answer that in the comments down below. See y'all next week. So I have some bad news. Every week I call therecruiting coordinator at ECU and we talk about my workouts and school a long with other things. This week he told me that this Saturday I need to shut down throwing completely until January. So, my project is based on throwing and gaining velocity and not being able to throw has put a little damper on things. I know that my arm needs the rest and it will help me next season in preventing injury, but I am really disappointed that this is my last week doing the workouts.
Since this was my last week I worked very hard and when I maxed out I gave it 110% effort. My results were very pleasing and I thought it was a great way to end the project. I topped out at 87 mph on pulldowns which is a great way to end heading into next season. My arm felt great throughout the week and I'm excited to see my velocity next season. Some of the challenges I had this week were not easy to overcome. Track practice has been getting out later around 5:30 which means I get home around 6. This only leaves me with a certain amount of time to get my throwing in. I worked through it this week and got all my workouts and stretching in and stayed ahead on my homework and tests. I am really pleased with my results of the project and excited to see how much I really learned. See y'all next week to share some of my overall results! This week was a very good week in my program. My arm felt great, my workouts went well, and I increased my velocity almost back to where it was before I injured my back. Not having to worry about my back this week was definetly a big plus so that made this week go a lot smoother.
My results this week really pleased me and that was a bright point in my week. Last week with my back injury I topped out at 84 mph. This week after recovering I topped out at 86 mph so it looks like I will be back up to my previous max next week if everything goes as planned. My arm is feeling really great and I'm confident I can hit my previous goal. Some of the challenges I worked through this week were tough to deal with. I have even less time for my workouts now because track started and we have practice. I did a good job with my time and workouts but it was very challenging to fit everything in. I did come across some bad news. Next week will be my last week on the program because I have to shut down throwing before thanksgiving because ECU said I should stop throwing then to rest my arm. So, hopefully I can get up to my max next week and then go into resting my arm for next season. See y'all next week! This week did not go as expected. I had a very rough time with the workouts due to some lower back soreness. The weather was very nice so I am upset that I had a bad week in this nice weather. Although my arm felt great this week I just couldn't generate a lot of power with the limitations of my back but I worked through it.
My results this week really sucked and I can't put it any other way. My velocity fell from 87 mph to 84 mph which really made me mad. Everytime I would throw at max effort my back would hurt so I couldn't get everything into it this week. Hopefully by next week my back will improve and I can get back up to where I was. My arm still feels loose and good I just couldn't get my lower half working. Some of the challenges I worked through this week were rushing workouts again because of homework and school. I did a good job at managing both and keeping my grades up. I am enjoying this project I just wish school wasn't going on during it. Hopefully by next week my biggest challenge (my back) will be all healed up and I can get back to throwing to my potential. Thanks for reading and see y'all next week! This week was another great week on my Driveline Program. The weather was nice and cool, the workouts went smoothly with no pain and didn't feel long at all. I am really loving this cool weather it just makes the workout go so much smoother. If my arm keeps feeling this good I might keep doing the program after the 8 weeks is up.
My results this week were very pleasing. I gained one mph of velocity in a week from last week which excited me. I went from 86 to 87 mph this week. That means I'm throwing 85-87 mph from the outfield now which is very good for my age so that helps me out a lot in games. The looser my arm gets and the stronger my shoulder gets the harder I will keep throwing so it's only up from here! Some challenges that I came across this week were rushing the workouts some causing me to be more tired than usual. I had to rush through my workouts because of homework. The more homework I have the less breaks I take working out so I have time for both. I am really enjoying this benefits of this project and I am excited to see my gains next week. Thanks for reading! This week has been the best week for me throughout the program. The workouts and results were sasitsfying this week. I was also very pleased that the temperature dropped. The temparutre dropping allowed me to move through my workouts a lot quicker and more comfortably.
My results this week were very satisfying. Last week I pulled down 86 mph and this week I pulled down 86 mph but although I didn't gain any velocity, 86 felt a lot easier with no pain this week which was great. I also pitched again this weekend in a game and I topped out at 81 mph but the good thing about that is I sat 78-80 throughout the outing which shows my arm is in great shape. I enjoyed the workouts this week and I really hope next weekend goes the same way. The only problem I really ran into is I was fatigued a little bit this week from a combination of school and working out which could've contributed to my velocity gains. Hopefully next week goes better with school and I can get a little more sleep. Can't wait to let y'all know how next week goes! See ya! Intro:
This week was week 4 of my velocity program. It was a good week in my velocity program. Last week's workouts consisted of a lot of fatigue and pain. I didn't see much of a gain in velocity last week due to the fatigue. This week went much smoother and I enjoyed the workouts a lot more. Results: Last week I went from 84 mph on my pull downs to 85 mph. This week my highest pull down velocity was 86 mph. Although it wasn't a huge jump I wasn't in pain during my workouts which shows my body is getting used to it. I also pitched this weekend for fun which I never do so my arm could've been tired from that. Pitching I topped out at 82 mph which is a big jump from what I used to be so that could be a good reflection of my gains. Workouts: This week my workouts went very well. They were not painful like last week which made them much more enjoyable. One issue I ran into the week was the temperatures. It was very hot this week which made my workouts very sweaty and hot. I had to pause for water breaks more than usual which took up some time. This also caused my grip on the weighted balls to be a little slippery which made some of my throws not as powerful as they should be. Overall my workouts were enjoyable and I look forward to next week and sharing it with yall. This week I recorded my second measurements to get a starting point of my velocity. I will base next weeks measurement off of this weeks velocity test. As each week goes on my velocity should continue to climb. The reps of my workout increased this week which resulted in them taking longer but it was definetly worth it. As the reps increase my velocity should continue to climb each week.
Results: This week was a big week for me in my velocity program. I saw my first increase in velocity while on the program. Last week I topped out at 84 mph while testing pull downs. This week I topped out at 85 mph. That doesn't seem like a big jump, but it isn't supposed to be. Velocity building takes dedication and hard work. You have to be patient and trust in the workouts and the process of it all. Eventually if you are patient the results will start showing up big time from where you started. Challenges/Enjoyments: Some of the challenges that I dealt with this week didn't seem large but impacted me greatly. The cold was definetly a big negative factor in my workouts. The cold caused me to be very tight and take extra time to make sure I got loose. The workout takes up a little chunk of my day and taking extra time to get warm was a hassle. An enjoyment of this week was gaining velocity for the first time. That was a big first step and I can't wait to keep gaining more. |
